Erika Dalya Massaquoi is the founder and CEO of The OULA Company, celebrated for its vibrant prints, impeccable fit, and expert craftsmanship. Her show-stopping designs have led to partnerships with Nordstrom and Shopbop, establishing OULA as a brand that seamlessly blends artistry with modern design.
A true creative force, Erika began her career in New York City, curating film exhibitions at the Museum of the Moving Image, working in contemporary art at the Whitney Museum, and producing for Oxygen Media. She holds a Ph.D. in Cinema Studies from NYU and later brought her deep expertise in visual culture to fashion education as Assistant Dean of Art and Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
Described as a polymath, Erika operates at the intersection of art, design, education, and business. Born and raised in Miami, she earned a B.A. in History and an M.A. in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago—an academic foundation that continues to inform her creative and strategic vision.
Now based in Denver, Colorado, Erika divides her time between building her brand, teaching, and designing. When she’s not working, you’ll find her in a hot yoga class, exploring the world with her husband, or cheering on her equestrian daughter as a proud barn mom.
